I've never heard of anyone catching them that far north. They catch them in North Carolina, so I'm sure that a few make their way into the bay.

If you want to catch redfish, do yourself a favor and just get to South Louisiana.

We don't call em Redfish. We call em Puppy Drum and Red Drum. Lots and lots of em in the Bay. Totally different fishing. NC has the same style of fishing down there that yall are used to. Shallow water, tailing fish, sight casting.
In the Ches. Bay and tribs, it's mostly drift fishing or casting to channel ledges. The big reds are still around. Most of that fishing is done with crabs and bait while anchored on a fish-finder rig.

Tidalfish.com is a good source for cuber-scouting. Or just to get a general idea of what to expect.

A lot of times we'll catch cobia and Red Drum on the same set. Early in the year we'll get blacks and reds on the same set sometimes.
Buddy of mine had a 95.5lb Cobia on July 4th. I'll see if I can wrestle a pic up.
