Very nice rigs!! no doubt! IS a 17ft skiff worth 40K or more????? I guess that really depends on the person looking for the boat. If you are going to use it for what it was designed to do, then yes.

 Re: Hells Bay ????
whats wrong with a mm rig? just don't have the speed i guess. put an outboard on the hull instead. i would think you can do more that way then spending all that money. a when you hit something in the shallow you wont cry as easily.

Skiffs these days sure are expensive, looked into them and was amazed a boat only rated for a 40HP engine could cost over $30K+

 Re: Hells Bay ????
I don't see much advantage over a custom aluminum rig. I have ridden in one and they are nice, but not $40,000 nice. The day after I rode in it, the captain got stuck in the mud out of Lafitte. That wouldn't have happened with a mudmotor. They might have there place somewhere like Florida, but in Louisiana I don't see any advantages other than a little bit of speed.
Funny thing, years ago I actually met one of the owner's of Hell's Bay at Rome's Lounge in Grand Isle. He was a real nice guy and wanted to try to expand the brand down here. I guess that didn't work out because I have only seen a few charter captains that run them and they are all flyfishing guides. It's a very well made boat but I'm sure the invention of the short-tail put a damper on sales in Louisiana.
