 what's Yalls goto fish fry batter? I'm looking to fry up some trout for the guys at work, I don't really have a preference other than the one I bought at the sportsman's show...don't have much left
I know I dislike lemon flavoring..I always add mustard...
I really need to buy a bunch of brands n sample at house with some friends,
Any recommendations? Maybe some brands I don't know of I can get a hold of for this controlled experiment.

It is made with corn flour. It is ground a lot finer than most of the other fish fry out there.

Re: what's Yalls goto fish fry batter? 2 cups cornmeal, 2 tbsp Tonys, 2 tbsp black pepper and 1 tbsp of salt.
The louisiana fry is too salty for me so we tried making our own and it took a min but we've got it down pretty good.

If I have time or I'm doing a lot if fish I do cup of corn meal, 1/3 cup flour, zatarains shake, black pepper, garlic, and some cavenders seasoning. I like to roll catfish in mustard before rolling it in the batter some times.

Re: what's Yalls goto fish fry batter? I get a lot of trout and salmon through out the year living on the the great lakes. My favorite way to cook trout is wrapping it in tin foil cover liberally with italian dressing and top with onions red and green peppers. These are great lakes trout (steelhead) a fillet is roughly 1.5-2" thick and weighs about 1.5 - 2 lbs. 25 minutes at 350 and its done. Salmon I like blacken. Trout and salmon arent a firm meat so i don't tend to fry them that much.
For frying fish i like to take Andy's Cajun and add bella italian bread crumbs to it 2/3 Andy's 1/3 breadcrumbs.
