You know everytime I see ol'Phil I think of how many hundreds of his kin I layed to rest with my rifle. I get a chubby thinking of my crosshairs layed right on him while the guy is holding him up. Boy would that be a sweet shot or what.

26" of snow at the house this weekend. 5" more tomorrow. Record setting snowfall this winter. We had one storm that dumped a ton of rain and was like 35°. That would've shattered the record. I like it. Our water table has been dropping for a few years. This will keep the James right all summer and allow me to decimate the flathead population.

We've done okay on chub belly and live sunfish. We get a lot of pulls per hook up. Just seems to be the nature of the fish here. We were free lining live chubs one night and free spooling the reel (just keeping a thumb on the spool) we'd feel a bump and let em swim for ever. As soon as we clicked the reel in gear they'd drop it.
The blues and channels will eat cut croaker all the way up into the mountains. I set up a chum bag in the current and tight line 5-6 rods with fish finder rigs. No luck on the flatheads using this technique.
