Just a friendly reminder for everyone again so please try to stay out of the grass at the mud run.

Marsh grass takes a long time to recover, if it ever does.

We have done a really good job the last two years of staying off the grass and picking up our trash, lets continue to do so.

(Old man rant over)

I remember seeing signs in San Diego that said "Dogs and Sailers keep off the grass",
Guess Now it needs to say "Dogs, Sailers, and Mud Boats keep oof the grass"

In all seriousness about 3 or 4 rides back the water was high and there was a lot of marsh grass torn up.....

There are a lot people that already don't like Mud motors and this ride, lets not give them any more reasons.

In all fairness,I'm pretty sure Swampnuts fucks up everything, every where, everytime... don't matter what side of the Sabine he's on.

In all honesty I bet the bulk of the people that come to this run are within an hour of the launch i.e. locals.

The numbers of boats at the run vs the number of boats at the hotel is vastly different.
So either a lot of people are getting up REALLY early to drive to this ride and then drive home, or a lot live pretty damn close.

I make these posts each year to positively reiterate that marsh grass needs to be protected.

Its most funny to me that everyone talks all this shit on the internet before the ride and after the ride, and not a word is said the day of.

I'm not hard to find if anyone needs to look me up at the ride and we can discuss matters in person.

I've learned my lesson about running through the grass,
I have proved it the last 3 years.
With that being said I don't believe any of those outboards were from Louisiana.

I wonder if they tore up the grass laying all that pipe under the marsh?
This event is awesome, the host are great and it's for a good cause.
The only problem I have is buying a bucket of beer and you have to leave it at the restaurant if you don't finish it.

I know on the Friday pre- ride, few years back, the cut made at the back of the GSU, pond was made by the locals, we were out checking the flats, I specifically rode up to that group, and asked them to not ride thru the grass. I was told to butt out that we live here ( that's not what was said but you get the Jist, cussing was involved) , I said then you should know better, started my rig and rode away. Most on here are respectful at all the rides we attend, It only takes a few bad apples to spoil it for all of us. leave it better than you found it , this is a MUD ride.

Most everyone on here knows me also. Let me start by saying I appreciate and have always appreciated what Coe and James and Clay do for all of us to get together. Thank you all. I was poking Willy a little bit in fun...hence the laughing faces behind my comment. From the reply he must not have seen the faces. I'm big enough to say I was the 2nd boat through the infamous "Ditch". It never crossed my mind that this would lead to more marsh erosion. Like Swampnuts said above, I have not been a part of such behavior since it was pointed out. I will also add I have refrained from driving on the grass out of respect for the resource. Being fussed at or about played no part in my decision. The OP was perfect. It pointed out the reason to stay off the grass. I guess I should have kept my mouth shut but as one of the people that mistreated the resource and learned from it, I take it a little bit personal.
I will continue to be respectful of the marsh or woods or wherever we are But it is my choice. Everyone has to make their choice. As pointed out already, pointing out the consequences of a behavior is the best deterrent in most cases.
I will take my old ass and opinions to bed now. Look forward to seeing you all next week. 8-)

If they wanna tear up some green stuff then they need to come to Caddo Lake when the giant salvania and the hyacinth are in full growth choking out the boats trails for outboards!
