rangerp, I don't count. but for 6 months I ran an aggressor Plt. that had the duty of coming up with the most realistic training for RVN. Most of the time I was at Eglin AFB with my bunch of crazy Vietnam combat vets. Most fun I had in the Army!

Mudweiser-

Good stuff,

Did you duck hunt the Fort Benning area?

First short tail mud boat I was ever on was while I was at IOAC. One of the CPT's from 3/75 had a mud buddy and we ran it on the Chatahoocee. I thought it was cool and was hooked ever since.

He found out about them from some old guy there... might have been the same guy you're referring to.

Ranger P Mr. Duck did retire. We still hunt together and that Major happens to be me. I am still out at Fort Benning and we went "hunting" today. Well really boat riding. Been tough on the Hooch this year.

Not to hijack the thread, but KJH, noticed you live in North Nebraska. hvduck and I go to Nebraska every year in October for a week to duck hunt. Are you familiar with /hunt the Rushville/ Valentine areas? We've had some great hunts and hopefully in the future we will be flexible enough to go when the ducks are down versus having to go at a set time and hope the ducks are in.

Post subject:  Re: Any other Rangers?

I've hunted all over that area, and ironically have some "tabbed" friends (ranchers) near Rushville who have great hunting.

Army Ranger Surprise

You could have knocked me over with a feather when I saw who they were talking about...I had no idea....wait till you see who it is. What a simple but most sincere and moving acceptance speech. Loved his recommendation for all our politicos.

Many people may have forgotten about his time in the U.S. Army. He is the son of an Air Force General, and an accomplished Golden Gloves boxer, and he graduated from Pomona College with a B.S. degree, and then became a Rhodes Scholar from Oxford University.

He joined the U.S. Army at the prompting of his father. After graduating from Officer Candidate School he attended and graduated from both Army Airborne and Ranger training in the very top of each class. He was selected for U. S. Army Special Forces Training but refused so that he could attend pilot training where he earned his wings, and became an accomplished U.S. Army helicopter (gun ship) pilot, and achieved the rank of Captain.

He was about to be promoted to the rank of Major, and appointed to teach at West Point when he resigned his
commission from the Army to go into music and acting. You can tell in this video that his time in the military means a lot to him. I won't give away who it is. You should just watch.

Not a ranger , jar head, but.... Marines sent 15 of us to Bragg, for the q course. Understand we totally skipped the normal procedure . All the guys , well most were rangers , had been for years , by the time they got there. Excellent guys , hardcore , smart, confident. Couldn't believe yall's budget , during foriegn weapons and those flat beds showed up with all that ammo , it was like Christmas, wait we get to shoot all that , today . Anyway I want to thank anyone who served , any branch .

Btw timeline at McCall was in summer/ fall of 1993, remember because turned 21 and one of the instructors brought me to buy my first legal six pack on the down low, and they didn't even card me, still laugh about it.

I don't know if their is still a lot of cross training army and marines, I heard we were sent as a bet between major powersand the colonel running q course at the time. I know that maj powers was force recon on loan to q as a instructor and that the bet was that a marine infantry squad could make the course, well he stacked the deck as we( the squad)had just had about 6 months of intense training and competitions to win marine annual rifle squad competition .Our battalion had went on west PAC for 6 months about 2 weeks before we won so they sent us to ft Bragg

Never been involved with the military, but I'm grateful everyday for what you guys do. Hey rangerp, do any of the guys you know still live in Echo? I live in Clayton, but have a lot of friends from that area. I also found it very coincidental that you guys were talking about Mr Duck. I met him and some of his buddies,(maybe mudweiser?), at a ramp near Lake Eufaula on opening day, and again on the Bradley unit of the refuge. We talked school and baseball for a good 20 minutes before he and his crew bid farewells. Really great guy in the times I've talked to him!

Spent 11yrs at FB wasn't with 75th we supported alot of their trainimg.
I was friends with a number of Rangers. The one that got me hooked into
competitive shooting is an Operator at Brag. now. Shot with a few rangers in USPSA
out at East Alabama Gun Club. I miss all the great deer and turkey hunting and
blasting woodies in Hite bowl!! Lots of friends made there over the years.
Columbus/Phenix city really had changed left in 2010. Almost all the strip joints and
sleazy motels are gone from VD drive!
20yrs not a day more! To much politacal change!
