There are too many vaiables to declare any significantly valid correlation between being Republican and generosity: religion, region for example are factors as well. Also State personal income tax rates may be a factor as well with the citizens in some higher tax rate states giving less to charity, New England states in particular. I could go on.

Nonsense Deano. State/Federal taxes have no bearing on giving back. Charity and in-kind giving come from the heart. If a person is forced by employer tactics, think United Way, to give to a charity then it doesn't come from the giver's heart. In order for a gift to "give back" to the heart of the giver it must be given through heartfelt thought. When you get "payback" from your efforts it causes something to take place in your being that makes you give more, whether it be money, time, etc., it's incredible.
So I will summarize...give until your heart feels it. I guess the democrats feel that the government will take care of everyone while the republicans take it on themselves.

Here are a couple examples of the problem with Baltimore's and MD's failing correctional system.

When a gangs of inmates are running the facilities, and officers are corrupt, it undermines the penal system.

Incarceration should be a punishment and deterrent, not a vacation.

Baltimore and MD needs to revamp correctional protocol and enforce laws and show that criminal lifestyle is nor wanted by the community nor a lifestyle that is worth it. Then with education teaching the same, perhaps then will change happen. Until then, only citizens standing up for themselves against criminals will be the only deterrent for criminals. But thanks to the liberal legislation stripping Marylanders of rights while re-instituting rights to convicted felons BEFORE their sentences are finished... It's only going to get worse.
