Ok so this is about whether birth control should be free for women or covered by health care or not included at all. If you are about controlling birth and think it should be free then think about this....if you are having sex then the guy should be wrapping up for protection.....the woman or I hate to say the man should demand it if she or he is gonna be the one receiving it.....so why would the pill or other forms of birth control be necessary? I understand that the pill is used.for hormone treatment and that's fine ....its medically necessary. Now for the second part....why would the government in a free nation force people to a. Buy insurance and b. Go against their accepted religious practices.... the catholics use a natural form of birth control and is the only accepted for of birth control. Why is this the federal government concern anyway?

Any comments dguidry or dgalmo?

In order to have a meaningfuln discussion about this one needs to separate what people should do versus what people actually do. More to come later when I have time.

I'm down for the federal or state govt paying for contreception, if it actually "worked". Personally I think all on welfare should be ordered to a public clinic where they have a Nueva Ring or have the shot given to them. Heck with tax breaks and additional money the govt practically gives them incentive to have more children. However, irresponsible people aren't capable of using birth control the right way and mistakes are made regardless. So this conversation is a waste of time, because its not going to decrease the amount of unwanted pregnancies. Besides it doesn't prevent diseases and thats another issue among the people that will benefit from these types of programs.

I'm all for it if it prevents a single mother from having 14 kids with 12 different dads all while living in Section 8 and being employed at McDonalds. But we know that this won't help matters, it will just have negative affect. SO i'm for it and against it if that makes sense.

my thoughts are that the health and human resources dept which is pushing this should just offer tax writeoffs to people who want to use it.....as a catholic, my wife and I practiced the rythem method as well as the "pull out" method to control birth......before getting married I always used a rubber.....the deal is, a condom will prevent disease and should be part of every insurance plan and intercourse.... you know maybe get a box of 150 each year, or whatever, kinda like the way they do diabetic supplies. But conception is not a disease or " medical" condition it a natural perfectly normal reaction to sperm reaching the egg and fertilizing it.....the condom will stop the spread of disease and prevent birth as well......If a woman wants the ease and conviniance of a pill or other form then she can pay for it.....
Now for the poor on welfare and government support.......I am for freedom so forcing someone to do something is not my idea of being free, however if the state would deam the parent or parents unfitt because they are on welfare and put the children in a military style boot camp untill the parent or parents could again take care of themselves making them capible of taking care of their kids.....This would allow the state to raise the kids in a very strict environment and at least giving the kids a chance at a better future which would mean they are self sufficiant and can get by without government support...

Just my .02 none of this should even be in any of our thoughts. The government is way to big already they have no business in anyones health care or welfare for that matter. I dont have a guilty concious or feel it is my civic duty to feed the hungry or keep them healthy whether they be kids or old people. This all come down to the breakdown of family values and people not taking care of there own family.
