Response from my Congressman/next door neighbor in Mobile. This is what I like to hear!

Dear Mr. McDonough III:

Thank you for contacting me regarding proposals for new gun control legislation. I understand your concern and I am glad you have taken the time to write.

In the aftermath of the recent tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, there were calls by many across the political spectrum for comprehensive changes in the way we protect our children, enforce our laws, and care for the mentally ill among us. Unfortunately, the president chose this moment to push forward with an approach that combines a list of largely feel-good proposals with a gun ban which burdens law-abiding citizens and will not stop criminals from using guns to commit crimes. It is unlikely any of the president's proposals will do much to stop evil people from committing heinous acts of violence on our citizens in the future.

I do not support measures which restrict the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans. I have a strong and consistent record in Congress in support of the Second Amendment, and I will oppose any legislation which would weaken it.
