I remember St. Martinville made national news when someone saw an all white prom reunion afterparty. Yet my stepson gets an all black rodeo flyer distributed to him at his school. Southern University Law is a historically black law school but about 40% of its students are Caucasian.

I did not see any Caucasian males for Obama's speech on national news this morning. National news reported it was an all male black college he was speaking to.

Can't find the stats for Morehouse, but I would predict the percentage of Caucasian students is quite low, probably less than 5%. The 2008 Valedictorian was Caucasian. The trend, however, is toward blind admissions regarding race.

HBCs are suffering right now. The best and brightest black high school students are opting for non HBC schools.

2. Of course he can do that. It is OK. It just can't be the other way around. That won't fly. Live with it.
3. Did you listen to or read about the content of his speech? I thought it was on the money. No excuses, stop the pattern of broken households, a fatherless man can succeed, don't piss away your success on bling, give back to your community, step up! I wish he would give that speech in every inner city school in the country! I'll chip in for the airfare...well I guess I already have.
4. The only people in this country who don't know that blacks are equal, educated, out of excuses and doing more damage to themselves than anyone else are Blacks! Obama knows that and was trying to convince them of it!
5. I don't think that particular speech would have had much impact at Yeshiva, BYU, or Montana State!

I am not an Obama supporter. In my book, up until now, everything he has done has been damaging to the country and devisive to our society. That speech was one of the most constructive things I've ever heard of him doing! If his presence or his speech will encourage one black fella to stay with his family or feel less entitled and more empowered, then we are all better for it.

The days of keeping the black man down are long over. The days of giving the black man a hand up are over. The days of convincing him of that he has equal standing AND equal responsibility to his family, his community, and his country have begun!

How do you do it? I don't think we have a politician with the intellect, let alone the courage or will, to sincerely pursue it.

You have to set out to destroy a part of a culture, all the while convincing those of that culture that they need to join a different culture.

How do you take a person (of ANY race) with little to no ambition who has received nearly free housing, free food, and free health care, and convince them that it is better to work for those things? If you just cut them off they don't just become magically employed and they don't go away. Churches, shelters, etc. would be flooded and begin turning people away. Where do they go? Your back yard or mine? Do they stop procreating? Do some turn to crime?

You need to fix so many things before you can break that cycle. Unfortunately, other that a little access to education, no one has really made any meaningful changes.

I'm no politician but the only way to do it is to run every person that does not legally belong in the country out and replace the void in the work force that is created with the people whom we have to stop giving assistance to there is no other way.
