100 years or so ago we had No public schools No national highways No national rails People dying in the streets from hunger and illness Slavery and then racial discrimination Women couldn't vote, hold office, serve on a jury And many more items like this, had we not had this form of government. If things were left up to some on this forum, we'd be turning back the clock. |

There is only one way to fix the problems we have as a nation. We need a new start the politicians that have destroyed our country need to go but we will have to make them leave they will never give up willingly! |

Id fight for texas...... secession is an option. Maybe civil war is what we need. Thomas Jefferson said something like "blood is good for a democracy"..... not an exact quote but gets to the point. You are right dguidry. I would love to go back in time and actually start over with the original constitution and bill of rights.id even compensate all those from slave blood with 10 grand and a oneway ticket home to africa. sent from the former Republic of Texas. |

Dguidry wrote "No public schools No national highways No national rails People dying in the streets from hunger and illness Slavery and then racial discrimination Women couldn't vote, hold office, serve on a jury" 100 years ago it was 1913 Boston Latin School was founded in 1635 and is both the first public school and oldest existing school in the United States. There were public schools throughout the US, and families that desired education by the 1800s, could attend. Back then, schools were under the control of the local communities, parents, churches, and by the 1950s, we were ranking in the top of the world in math and sciences. By the 1960s, the lib democrats passed the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 began pumping federal money into local school districts. When liberals put their fingers in the mix and got the federal gov involved, our education standards began to plummet, and continue to drop today. We now pay more money per student per year than any nation in the world, and it is a failure. We have kids that graduate high school and cannot read. The democrat run public schools are a indoctrination play ground that dumb down education, and create little pro Obama voters. We had railways that were standard gauge tracks by the 1880s, and it was privately owned. Woodrow Wilson put railway in to federal hands in the 1900s, and in typical federal government fashion, screwed it up. If you want to see a model of inefficiency, take a look at Amtrak. It is a typical of federal bureaucracy and a money pit The "people starving to death" is a bunch of hog wash. The government did more to drive up hunger in the Great Depression when they tried replacing charity with gov hand outs. The government always seems to screw it up. People in the Great Depression had to grow their own gardens, raise chickens, eat fish they caught.... but we never had a population of people dying from starvation in the streets like liberals like to preach. We are a rare nation in that the poorest of our population is also the fatest. Go to google images and look at Americans during the Great Depression and then compare and contrast to famines in the Ukraine, Somalia, Ethiopia, Cambodia... It is all just another liberal lie that we starved people by the millions and that the government stepped in and fixed. WWII fixed the great depression. Of all FDR fixes, none worked. As far as slavery and racial discrimination, So, who brought those problems to us? It was the democrat that fought to keep blacks as slaves. The Republican party was formed under the oaks in Jackson Michigan out of the Free Soil Party, to stop and contain slavery. It was democrats that started the KKK, it was democrats that segregated schools, it was democrats that lynched blacks, it was democrats that passed Jim Crow laws. When dems saw the light that they could not stop blacks from getting an education and voting, it was then that they came up with the welfare. They saw a situation where they could take blacks from the cotton plantation and put them on the welfare plantation and destroy the black family. LBJ voted against desegregation, and it was LBJ that stated our modern welfare. LBJ made this comment "I will have those _Niggers_ voting democrat for the next 200 years". What did he mean by that? |
