If the government can shut down national parks, lands, and monuments, what else can they control? can they shut down banks, highways, city water and city power?

Can they close grocery stores, drug stores, hospitals and clinics?

Can government close churches, public and private school?

Can they shut down state and city parks?

Can they close Airports, busses stations, trains, and subways?

Is it "We the People", or could it be "We the Sheeple" ?

• “They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither safety nor liberty.”

• “This will be the best security for maintaining our liberties. A nation of well-informed men who have been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them cannot be enslaved. It is in the religion of ignorance that tyranny begins.”

• “The Constitution only gives people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself.”

James Madison

• “It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood.”

• “Liberty may be endangered by the abuse of liberty, but also by the abuse of power.”

• “No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare.”

• “The Constitution of the United States was created by the people of the United States composing the respective states, who alone had the right.”

• “The essence of Government is power; and power, lodged as it must be in human hands, will ever be liable to abuse.”

John Adams

• “In my many years I have come to a conclusion that one useless man is a shame, two is a law firm, and three or more is a congress. “

• “Power must never be trusted without a check.”

• “There are two ways to conquer and enslave a country. One is by the sword. The other is by debt.”

• “Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people.”

•”If worthless men are sometimes at the head of affairs, it is, I believe, because worthless men are at the tail and the middle”

Ronald Reagan

• “Government exists to protect us from each other. Where government has gone beyond its limits is in deciding to protect us from ourselves.”

• “The most terrifying words in the English language are: I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”

• “Government’s view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.”

• “I hope we once again have reminded people that man is not free unless government is limited. There’s a clear cause and effect here that is as neat and predictable as a law of physics: As government expands, liberty contracts.”

• “Government is not a solution to our problem government is the problem.”

• “The federal government did not create the states; the states created the federal government.”

• “No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we’ll ever see on this earth!”

• “If you analyze it I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism — The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is.”

• “Government does not solve problems. It subsidizes them.”

• “Government always finds a need for whatever money it gets.”

I believe that if you get government assistance all year at tax time you should forfeit your refund and payback what you've used all year long. As it is now they get a big ole fat bonus for doing absolutely nothing, we have to stop this. save all that money and use it toward the deficet. reward the people who work and do the right thing. maybe then they will see that hard work pays off. this is just my opinion but i bet some of you agree.

DGuidry, I'm sure your a decent guy in person. Might even be alright to drink a beer with, but you cannot honestly tell me that it doesn't piss you off when you are standing at the store buying ground meat because the ribeyes are too expensive and then they have some low-life in front of you buying ribs, ribeyes, and all the fixins on their EBT cards. Then to really pour salt in the wound, they pull out a wad of cash bigger than a bank teller's till to pay for their liquor. I've seen it multiple times by whites/blacks/hispanics. I just tell them your welcome. Statistically half of the people in that store are the same way. You have got to realize that these people only want a hand out, not a hand up. The entire system is broken. People who do not see this are only enablers of the further degradation of America. Pretty soon we will be known as the "once greatest nation on the planet."

One cannot generalize facts like you state and argue that it is the same for everyone one. EBT's went along way to curbing fraud or misuse of welfare money. I've read studies that show there is only a small percentage of fraud in the welfare system. But I think most like ya'll object to the system itself, that there is in place a way to help poor people. You would eliminate it altogether. I wish we could do that too, but we would then have to deal with skyrocketing crime rates and people starving in the streets all over the country. Would you prefer that?

Dean you sicken me! You show me one using a EBT card in the right way and I'll show you fifty that are not!
Yes I'm sure there are some people out there that are. And while you are at it show me one that got on the program because they need help. And then got off of it.

Fowlmood comment -"someone please tell me i'm not the only one who feels this way."

I am tracking with what you are saying, and I agree. Some people are getting more back in taxes that what they paid.

Remember, the top 1% of wage earners is paying almost 40% of the income tax

the top 10% pay 71% of the income tax.

The bottom 40% are not paying income tax.

The rich are paying way more than their "fair share".

I agree with most of you who have posted that more often than not the system is being abused. There should be a more thorough application process for wellfare recipients that should include drug alcohol and nicotine testing. And a repayment plan wether it be an assigned job, forfeiture of all tax returns, or liquidation of assets eg; flat screen TV's, rims, stereos, guns, ect! I'm sick and tired of helping lazy people.

The ones on welfare should be put to work. Cleaning ditches, repainting city halls, cutting grass, janitorial services for the court house, washing police cars, etc.... I know times can be tough for some but there's is ample amount of work needed to be done around the community. For those that do have a job and are receiving assistance(to make ends meet) they must make time to complete X number of community service hours within a years time frame.
This forces welfare recipients to become part of the community and not just a parasite on the community.

This goes for the people on disability as well. It pisses me off that I see a people on disability frogging all night long 3-5 nights out the week. Maybe there's things they can't do but that don't mean 2 days out the week they can't file books in the library or stuff envelopes to mail out jury duty subpoenas at the courthouse.

I witnessed 2 ladys that worked for a major new car lot using their star card or whatever its called to purchase meat at a market. In talking to them while in line I commented on all the meat...and they told me to come by the lot. They were having a bbq lunch for the public. They both spent 200 bucks each on their cards..... no doubt turning a reciept into the dealership for cash.......
