Post Infant life jackets
I was looking at lifejackets on Cabelas for my 16 month old twin girls. They had two kinds, one Cabelas brand and one made by Mustang. They had a few great reviews for the mustang and a lot of good to mixed reviews for the Cabelas brand. I want them to be comfortable so that they like going for rides in the boat. What brands do y'all use?

After bringing up a few kids in boats I think they will either like it or not depending on the overall experience you make of it, life jackets played no part of that.

When our daughters were small - we put them into those swimsuits with floatation built in - and then into a lifejacket.... The kind with the grab handles on the head floatation.....

Like this one from Overtons...
Test them and check for any chafing at neck or arms....

The handle is handy for boarding and unboarding - and general restraint...

The suit is not CG approved - but always added peace of mind....

Just make sure there is a leg strap. I have always had a phobia that the kids would jump off the boat and "blurp" the jacket comes sliding up and over thier heads.

Thats why we put them into the swimsuit with built in floatation...

At 2 years old - they can work the zippers and snaps when you aren't lookin...

Or original poster has twins to wrangle...

Be safe....

We did try several different kinds and just rolled on with our kids .... but with the GrandBaby we have given alittle mo thot into it and gots the one that is sho-nuff CoastGuard approved with the butt seat and all ..... it's like a body-suit with flotation. I try to git the name of it later.

Which everyone you git ..... go to the swimmin' pool and tho the little ones in and see how thay float .... it will give you "Peace of Minds" !!!!!

I have no kids but do have boats. I suggest two things I have done with friends and relatives kids:

1. Put them in the life jackets and go play in a swimming pool. It will test how well the jackets work and make wearing them more fun for the kids.

2. I always make one adult on board the designated rescue swimmer. I don't want all the adults to jump over after a child that falls in and I don't want the child to have a scary time waiting to be picked back up.

I'm looking some life jackets for my baby, which easy to wear and unwear. Most important thing it can be use in the extended period of time.

These are the one's I got for my daughters. Can't remember where they came from though because I think my wife bought them, maybe Academy or Cabelas. They have Dora the Explorer on them but more importantly they have a piece of flotation behind their head to self-right & support their head and have a loop attached which makes it easy to grab them if necessary.

Ok so this brings me to my question what is too young to bring them in the boat my son just made a year old this week and some people are telling me I'm crazy but I want to get him out on the water and used to it he loves playing in the boat in the yard and he isn't scared of the motor when I crank it but some people in my family and my wifes family aren't happy with the idea of him in a boat yet but I say he's my child if I think he's ready let him go for a ride what do yall think?

My parents took me out since I was 3 months old.
I took my daughter out starting at 9 months.
The important thing to remember is the correct fitment of the lifejacket. We feel if they can fit in the life jacket and are comfortable, then they are good to go. Also my daughter took swimming lessons at 1 year. They can't swim far, but at least they won't panic if they hit the water. (But the lifejacket never comes off in the boat).

So long as you can keep them comfortable, you can take them. Unfortunately, when they are very young, you need to plan your trips so they can be cut short if necessary. For life jackets, I've been very pleased with Mustang Survival. It is very good stuff and your child (children) will outgrow them long before the jacket has worn out.

I don't think any of them are particularly comfortable, especially in the heat. I have four children, and the two oldest thought they "died and went to heaven" when they could fit into an inflatable jacket and get out of those hot floatation vests! The two youngest, ask each time if they are old enough for "blow up" life preservers yet.

Lastly, if you do any traveling in the dark (or at the edge of dark), Revere makes a nice, affordable, water activated, strobe that can be attached to the life jackets.

Yea mine is definitely starting to get to a more fun age! My wife and I found out last week that she is pregnant again so we will have our hands full. Everyone ask me if I am hoping to get a boy and I can honestly say that I would be perfectly happy having another girl!

Was looking on ladwf site and love how clear they can be. All it says is uscs approved life vest for children under 16. Not what class. Does anyone know if class v meets ladwf regs? My lil bit is fixin to be two and wants to hit the water in the boat

Ya'll aint' the only ones getting crazy looks when i mention taking my oldest in the boat, she is 2 now, she loved riding in my center console but is kind of leary of the mud motor firing up. I have a 3 week old right now, can't wait till she's old enough.
