Daisy cutter: is that where you hunt? Tell me would you what part of the agricultural process for producing corn involves flooding a corn field? I fail to understand how we can justify this and not call it anything but pure baiting. Here in LA flooding a rice field is at least an intergal part of the process but for corn to flood a field is not and only serves the purpose of baiting. How do you feel about it?

It's a WMA. You're beefs with the state on the baiting issue not me. In Alabama it's legal to leave part of the crop after harvest, yer just not allowed to spread it where ever you want. trust me all of the stalks were not loaded with corn. what corn is left is either ate by deer or dove before they flood or burnt to a crisp by duck season. the amount left is small compaired to the number of uncut stalks that are left

Why flood a corn field at all if not to just create an environment the sole purpose of which becomes attracting ducks to bait even if it's just what's "left over". You're not creating habitat. I think this process alone has caused a severe reduction in historic migration of Mallards to Louisiana's tremendous natural duck environments.

Question: Why are there so many ducks in Missouri?
Vandemore: The number-one reason is the Missouri Department of Conservation. Our state uses 1/8 of a 1-percent sales tax for conservation purposes. We also have a tremendous amouClick to enlargent of public lands designated for hunting. Missouri is one of the top-five states for having the most public lands designated for hunting in the nation. On these public lands, the Missouri Department of Conservation plants plenty of food for wildlife. For the ducks, they mainly plant flooded cornfields. We have plenty of waterfowl refuges that hold birds during the winter months and several major river systems that don’t freeze up, regardless of how cold the weather becomes. Our state also raises a tremendous amount of corn and grain, and we have a lot of duck clubs that raise corn and flood their fields. So, there’s a tremendous amount of food, open water and sanctuary here for ducks.

Trust me, we have nowhere near the number of ducks you have in louisiana. And again your beefs with the government not me. I hunt there because it's available. Not all areas are flooded corn, some are timber and others just swamp.

He's just grumpy because he doesnt kill ducks like he used to. Migration patterns and lots of other variables change. People still kill ducks like crazy in louisiana. If your not willing to move and hunt somewhere else where there are more birds, thats your own damn fault.

i dont understand his complaint. to me its no diff than planting a green field for deer or a bean field for dove. we arent out there broadcasting corn with speader trucks to shoot ducks. on top of all that its public land and the feds plant it. all we have to do is buy a wma license and put up with the bs of hunting public land if i could afford it i would come to LA and shoot ducks but i cant so i make due with what i got
