Poor Driving + FPR = Back on the Water
Well..this wasn't exactly what I had planned when I went through this pass on a very low tide. On normal tide, I would be catching reds where I ended up parked! Hit the mud and didn't have the room to make the turn. Ended up on an oyster bed and the bank on the edge of the pond. First thought was, "I am glad I have Deep Woods Off in the boat. It's going to be a while waiting on high tide." I was quite relieved when my Uncle J barge started inching off the bank! That is one heavy boat and I don't think I could have budged it by myself! It's raw footage from the GoPro. I need to move the base mount a little higher because the camera vibrates against the console making that crazy noise...no it's not the Prodrive!!

I need to take the one off my John Deere and put it on the boat! But, hydraulic steering does help.

Sounds like a space ship with trim and hydro to push motor in reverse

Re: Poor Driving + FPR = Back on the Water
No doubt! Between those sounds and the camera case rattling against the console, it's hard to watch the raw video. The PC I have access to down here doesn't have any video editing software. Can't cover up all that craziness with music! LOL Sent using Morse Code from my not so smart phone.

Man I drive a Prodrive but that shit made me laugh. It took 36 seconds to put it in reverse.

Re: Poor Driving + FPR = Back on the Water
LOL! I was just a little flustered....and worried! Thought I just bought the farm and was going to spend a long night in the marsh waiting on the tide. Once it started inching off the bank/oysters, I breathed a little easier. The FPR started shoving the pancake batter under the boat and raised the stern/prop up out of the mud. That's when I started trying to just turn it off the bank and get parallel to it. Worked out okay, thankfully! But, yeah, looking back it was pretty comical!

The most impressive thing about that video other than getting off that oyster reef, was that you were wearing a life vest and kill lanyard. Good job!!

Re: Poor Driving + FPR = Back on the Water
Nobody can be as great as "Your GREATness DDM."
But, last check, I wasn't claiming to be the GREAT DDM, the Talent of Terrebonne, the Beau of Bowfishing, the Monster of Mudmotors, the Hound of Houma, the Master of Misspelling.
Nope, you can have all those titles. I just want to be little ole me and enjoy the ability to laugh at myself.

I know you did, Terry. I own a Prodrive. It's a given that you're going to laugh at me. Every non-Gatortail mudmotor owner has come to anticipate that from you. After all, our boats, motors and skills are pale in comparison to yours.

I go down there to wear out reds on those oyster beds! LOL
We used to have a camp on Beverly, just before you get to Carmadelle's. Until Katrina, at least. My brother now has a camp on the island. We'll get together one weekend.

Re: Poor Driving + FPR = Back on the Water
Point on the pond + serious oyster beds + I couldn't get the boat to turn. Keeping in the throttle would have put me way up on the bank. There was a slight possibility if I would have throttled it again, I could have gotten it to turn enough to miss that point. But, I wasn't going to miss the oyster bed running parallel with the bank on the other side of the corner. Had I made the corner, I would have set myself up for a lot more oysters. Tide was super-low weekend of the Tarpon Rodeo. All that area usually has an easy 10" of more water over it during normal tide conditions. I bit the bullet and went over the oyster bed and onto the side of the point I was on; head on. The picture below shows exactly where I was and the path I was supposed to take (solid line).... and the path I did take(dashed line)! Beached.jpg
