Nice music. It doesn't go with the video in my opinion, maybe Johnny Cash's Cadillac song!

I guess those things work okay for some people. But I have no doubt I'd need 2 or 3 props to get to most of my duck blinds. And what about when you're hung up and you're lifting up on the handle trying to leverage your way out of a tight spot? I'd snap that dinky ass skeg off immediately and probably without even trying hard. And when you're doing all that leveraging, do you really think that driveshaft housing is going to last?

How bout the way it would continuously blow out of the water while on plane. I think it at least needs a cav plate.

I still seriously question it's durability.

Hey guys, I only made this video because there really seems to be no videos of this motor on the internet other than those you see overseas. I am in no way saying this motor is better than a high end surface drive. Simply put I wanted to show people who may question them that they can actually do a little. For some people this is all they need. For others this would be far inferior. All depends on where you hunt, your boat, and your pocketbook. I spent 800 dollars on that rig brand new. I have fun with it. As far as the skeg goes its tough, however whoever said something about a cav plate is possibly right. I am still fine tuning the motor to run right at full throttle. It has to be setup perfect to do so with a good clean prop, otherwise it will tend to want to jump a little. The prop I had on there was pretty worn after making this video. But since they cost me near to nothing I have extras on hand. I will get a surface drive in the years coming, once the pocketbook allows me to do so.
Thanks for watching!

the problem is with these motors is the prop. if they had a strong prop it would shithouse the drive. and keep going up the food chain from there. For what they are, its the buyers money, may be worth it to them. I could break one in a hurry where i run.

Back Water H2, stumpjumper , wood duck mud motors, have small hp longtails designed like these.(only difference is American longtails are subsurface props and thai longtail is surface prop) I posted a link to youtube of a new Honda dx690 doing 34 mph. The prop is a surface prop, so it needs to be half on surface. I am in the process of building myself one out of aluminum tubing, with the normal bearing, bushings, and seals. Also I believe the design of the propeller is reason for good speeds, maybe we can get a propeller maker to cast some in stainless.

I looked into these and spoke with a sales rep out of Florida when I was looking for a set up. It does seem kinda cheap but for a man who can't afford a high end unit this might be the perfect answer for him. I have two longtails now a gd and a Aluminum hmlt. No they are not the fastest thing on the water but they get the job done. As far as spending several thousands of dollars I couldn't afford it either. I'm not knocking them but I've never seen a duck drop from the sky just from waving a hand full of 100 dollar bills. If its all you can do then more power to you cause your doing the same as everyone else on here, your on the water enjoying yourself.
