 Re: Sometimes the starter?
Check your connections at the battery, and at the starter. Check the ground going to the bottom of the tiller assembly. Make sure all connections are solid. Make sure your batt is good. If all that is good, starter is probably failing and you should replace it soon.

1/4 npt is almost 1/2 inch hole. I'm pretty sure thats what it is bro. Could be wrong, but check it out. Brass plug from hd is just a few cents...

Re: What is the thread size on the lower unit drain plug?
Yeah, I am pretty sure too.
Chased it all over town one day. Nobody could figure out what it was till someone at NAPA thought of npt and ckd that. sure enough that is what it was...
And CB is right it is almost an 1/2 hole that the 1/4 plug fits...
but call PD if you are concerned...
What are you trying to do? get a new plug? retap?
it was hard to find... had to get at a plumbing shop...

Re: What is the thread size on the lower unit drain plug?
Go to Lowes or HD and look in the pipe dept. They have some brass 1/4" NPT fittings with a male tubing fitting on the other end that will slide into the pump hose on any of those LU oil pumps.
