Post subject: | Question on new Gator-tail |
Just got a 2011 gator tail 35 & gator tail boat & ran it the other day, this motor is loud! but it's not coming from the exhust, stock. It's sounds like a loud fan.I had a 06 mb 35 & the motor didn't sound like this. Is this normal for these new motors? Help appreciated. |

Brought boat back to gt for a ride & they said the noise is normal. Great guys at gt. They said it might be the prop which checked out good. I will try a friends mb prop to see if it helps. I love the boat & the performance of this rig,but I hope I can get the noise down. |

Some might say just put a loud exhaust on it and then you are good to go ! ! ! Just joking.... Any chance there could be some vibration noise from the hull or under the floor... I know of a truck built before a strike where there were like 3 or 4 bolts dropped into the doors with tags attached that said "you finally found me" --- any way they made a heck of a noise on rough roads and almost none on others.... A bit of debris like a few rocks might have gotten in there.... Good Luck - hope you have lots of enjoyment with your rig... |

When the motor is in gear out the water it sounds normal, but when you put a load on it in the water over 3000 rpm's it loud but not form the exhust,I ran it the other day & after 15 minuts I was looking for ear plugs. I have been running a 35 hp sd motor for over 3 years and this motor is much louder, and when you run a few hours a day hunting & and fishing it might get rough. |

Sounds like you need to take it back to Gator-Tail and tell them to fix it. |

Just bought mine thursday and took it out today for the first time. I thought the same thing, damn it's loud after 3,000 rpms. When I got home I started checking and found that the plastic clutch cover has some rattles. I took it off by removing the 2 side bolts and worked it off. you can see by the black dust where it's been rubbing. I have a roll of 1/8" x 2" insulation tape that I cut and stuck on the spots where it rattles (under side bolts and where the clutch base touches the cover). Now you can slap it around and hear nothing. will try it out tomorrow. |

I ran a old 11"mb prop I had the other day and it was a little better but not by much.I did check for loose covers and parts but every thing was tight. It must be the belt when it is put under a load, which is a new style. |

It's your prop hitting the water. |

No, the boat is faster with the prop out the water. |

Try trimming down just a little bit.It sounds to me like you have to much prop out of the water. |
