I have a 1544 Alweld with a 23 HP GoDevil surface drive with a 2 blade prop. Is it worth $450 to upgrade to a 3 blade prop. |

I don't think so. I could buy 2 props for my motor for that price. Talk to Gigafowl. LOL He could probably get you one for free. ![]() |

I can tell you that the tree blade does take ALOT of the vibration out of these motors!! As of performance I really could not tell you the diffrence there. |

The 3 blade will help on the vibration, but no so much on the tiller torque. |

My 23 didnt have a problem with vibration, and once the skeg was bent right, it didnt have a tiller torque problem either. The 3 blade isnt but about $25 more, but you gotta get a new shaft, and its advisable to change the gear ratio |

Attakapas24 From what Bart Baker of GoDevil has told me - they do not reccommend the 11x11 three blade on the 23 GoDevil.... First because they built the SD to be lighter than the 27 and 35, so the shaft is a smaller diameter.... Second they felt that the 23 did not have enough torque to make the three blade really work the way it does on the bigger motors.... If you PM me I will give you his phone number - or - call Coco himself... Now - I have a 17x42 Weldbilt with 27 GDSD - I just swapped from the 2 blade 12x12 to the three blade 11x11 - where no ratio change or alterations are needed.... I made two trips into Miller and Mud lakes with this new three blade and from my perspective there is no difference in tiller feel whatsoever.... It runs a bit slower at WOT but has more mid speed torque and comes out of the hole as fast as my buddy's 35 GDSD on a 18x48 GDSD hull.... |

3 blade is an 11x12 and they changed the ratio on the 23's. 2007 model 23 can't turn it without changing the ratio. |

3 blades have a 12 pitch already. Called and asked if I could add some pitch to it to bring it to a 12 and Dawn @GD said it already is. Just gonna have to add some more cup. |

LaBirdman, My original post below was incorrect.... After talking again to Bart - it is a 11x12 just as you posted - and even on the 35HP there is a 1.4 to 1 ratio reduction to the prop - with higher ration reductions in the smaller motors - like the 27 and 23.... It is the ratio reduction which gives the smaller motors enough torque to use the 3 blade GoDevil 11x12 prop properly.... Like the current 23 SD with the 3 blade factory installed.... Also there are different makers of 3 blade props that might also be seen in the field as well.... ***** My original post which was incorrect - below ***** From what Bart told me there is only one GoDevil 3 blade and it is 11x11... No 12 pitch yet... Least that is what I understood, notice there is no pitch marking on the prop, cause there is only one design... |

27's got a 1.6 to 1 ratio and 23's have a 1.7 to 1 ratio. |
