MarshMellow Performance Exhaust???
im looking for a exhaust system that reduces the "noise" as much as possible...without sacrificing "too" much performance...
not really into the whole "i have the loudest motor..." like many of the folks here in the lowcountry..and they all wonder why they dont kill craph...anyhow, thats a different story
it will be going on the mb 5500 bd...
again, please excuse the ignorance! just looking for some feedback from the pro's..thanks guys

Re: MarshMellow Performance Exhaust???
MM (I thought) was quieter than my stock exhaust! Plus added better flow... was also Stainless steel this was before they offered the stock exhaust in SS.

Re: MarshMellow Performance Exhaust???
The MM DB has a deeper but not louder tone. I gained 200 rpms with just the addition of the MM. I recommend it to anyone.

Re: MarshMellow Performance Exhaust???
They have a rumble I have no idea I got mine before Gator-Tail was even selling them... I may upgrade to the dual outlets eventually I like the double barell he's offering now.

Re: MarshMellow Performance Exhaust???
If ya lookin for quiet without losing any performance, I'd go with either the BPS Q or the original MM like WEA has. Both are very quiet in comparison to the other aftermarket exhausts. The newer "Double Barrel" MM without the baffles is louder than the original, and sounds close to a BPS Crossover with a baffle in.

Just added this performance muffler to the "Q" Muffler. It doesn't add any more backpressure so it shouldn't negatively affect the HP. Almost ecompletely eliminates the exhaust noise, now just have to deal with the engine noise (which is manageable).

I've been runnin' the MM 'bout two years now .... 'course it sat on the trailer durin' our big draught of 2011. I've gots the double barrell with no baffles ... it's kind of to loud .... but it ain't that bad. Reason fo mines post mainly is .... is to brag on MM's service !!! Couple weeks ago I nocticed the starboard bracket was broken .... rite where it makes the ninety to bolt up at the engine. Called MM on a Monday .... new bracket recieved on Wed !!! Part was free to me !!! Thay did ask fo me to pay shippin' ..... MM is a well built product that MM stands behind !!!

Re: MarshMellow Performance Exhaust???
I had my bracket break in the same spot but had a buddy tig it back together, no big deal.
That SS Magnaflow is something else, LOL. You might have something if you take the Q out of the equation....

Re: MarshMellow Performance Exhaust???
Hi SC mudder, you're correct. Boat came with BPS Q muffler. I didn't find it "quieted" much at all, so modified to reduce the mind-numbing clattery. Found the magnaflow on ebay for $35, and other parts on Amazon - buddy is a welder. Not much one can do to quiet the actual valve/piston/compression noise unless you wrapped it with a hood and insulation like a car, but it's at least 50% more quiet than before, especially at full throttle.

Re: MarshMellow Performance Exhaust???
Its definitely unique. Put up a video of it running, I'd like to hear what it sounds like. I run a single crossover, so I think the Q is quiet, lol.

Re: MarshMellow Performance Exhaust???
Here's the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibHO-Dn_FbcNot sure if you can tell, but most of the noise is coming from the motor itself, versus the exhaust. You can pick out the slight sound from the exhaust with the low rumble popping noise.

Re: MarshMellow Performance Exhaust???
Totally agree. The video, in my opinion, is not a good representation because there is no reference point for sound. However, it is at leat 50% more quiet than it was with the Q muffler alone. That's a fact. Here's another fact. If you were to redirect 100% of the exhaust noise to say, "under water" and totally eliminate 100% of the exhaust noise, the "Motor" noise would still be a significant factor to be contended with - which is just about where I am. The only way to eliminate the "Motor" noise is to create a shroud around the motor with insulation which would not be prctical. So, I've resorted to reducing the noises within my control as much as possible, which I have succeeded in. I'm not stating my motor is "Quiet", it's just a whole lot more "Quiet" than it was with either a stock or BPS "Q" Muffler. We do what we can.....
