if you are doing flat green do it yourself, it is EASY.

For the BEST boat paint, get it here:
http://www.lockstockbarrell.com/

On the left side click the link for "FME Pricing" under the Paint section.

To make sure it sticks, follow their directions. http://www.lockstockbarrell.com/spec_sh ... _boats.pdf

I got the paint for my hull there and it turned out nice.

Thanks for the info guys. I looked at the LSB stuff and it seems easy enough. I have a compressor so I'm going to give it a shot myself, it'll keep me busy and will be quit a bit cheaper too. Hopefully I'll get around to it in the next month and let you'll know how it turned out. Thanks again.

You can etch the hull with muriatic acid, then hit it with a good aluminum primer. If you use the acid do it outdoors in a open area. Can get it at Lowes or Home Depot in the garden department.

Use a garden sprayer. Let it sit for a few minutes then hose off. It will foam up and when that process stopped I washed it down. I also wiped the hull with paint thinner just prior to paint since I painted a couple days later. I will have to look but I think I thinned the paint 25% per LSB. That was my first attempt to paint anything other than with rattle cans and it came out great IMO.

The acid is mild but still an acid so use caution. The fumes can be rough. It will kill any grass it contacts when rinsed off too.

Which primer did ya'll use. That AG primer is high dollar. And how about some pics of your boat and the colors you used to get an idea of what the color looks like on a boat.

That AG primer is pricey but worth it. Dont skimp on the primer as it is the bond for a lasting paint job. Mine is natgear like Stancos hull.

you could always get it powder coated especially since your only doin one color but could save plenty by doing it yourself

Jetter... it's not going to take but half a gallon at most to do a boat... I need to paint mine too... let's get a gallon of primer and split it, bring your boat over to my house and we'll paint them at the same time.

I finished painting the boat on Thursday. It turned out pretty well and was pretty easy to do. I didnt use enough flattener so its a little shiny but I have a little paint leftover that I am going to dull down and spray one more light coat to dull it. Thanks to crews for the help. Just have to lay the hydroturf and steelflex the bottom and It'll be ready to go.DSC00211.JPGDSC00217.JPGDSC00220.JPG
