I have a set of 12volt hid lights but the trollIng motor plug I want to run them to is 24v. Is there some way to run these lights on 24v? |

The 24v plug has 2 or 3 wires? |

I've run into a similar problem. I wired my winch to run through the TM plug. Now that I finally acquired my trolling motor, it ended up being a 24V. Now how can I plug the winch in there? Right now, I am just unhooking one of my batteries and running the winch off of one 12V, but it's a pain in the butt. |

Chasin. Install a perko switch so you can swap between batteries or use both. |

Just curious... What type of HIDs? Do they have an external ballast? Or are they the self-contained? |

This is what i have. Depending on which 2 of the 3 prongs on the male connector you connect to it will deliver 12v or 24v. This allows me to have the same plug for the HID lights(12v), TM(24v), and the winch(12v). There maybe better options out there but it was the only plug i could find in town that did what you are talking about and allowed me to hook up big enough wire to to carry the amps for the winch. http://www.academy.com/webapp/wcs/store ... ug&Ntk=All |

I did one for a guy a while back similar, wanted 24v for Troll motor and 12v for lights, etc. so i wired up a 4 conductor plug like so: Pin 1 - Batt 1 + Pin 2 - Batt 1 - Pin 3 - Batt 2 + Pin 4 - Batt 2 - The Troll motor plug had TM+ = Pin 1 TM- = Pin 4 and a jumper from Pin 2 to Pin 3 (24v Btween Pin 1 and 4) The light plug had Pin 1 and Pin 3 together and Pin 2 and Pin 4 together (12v btween Pin 1,3 and 2,4) I also made a jumper of 4ga wire from the Crank batt to a plug with the same configuration to charge the Troll batts off the motor. (Just keep in mind set up like this if you leave the jumper from crank to troll batt and shut down motor youll run down all three batts..) this way worked for what he wanted to do with it.. you could also install a three prong with: Pin 1 - Batt 1 + Pin 2 - Batt 1 - Pin 3 - Batt 2 - And a jumper from Batt 1- to Batt 2+ Pin 1 to 2 (12v) Pin 1 to 3 (24v) This way i would recommend rotating the batts every now and then so your cycling both batts |
