Maybe, but at least I don't have cankles their buddy!! Motor would only turn around 3800 in the water before. Once I put them cam in I could get about 4050 and that Was with a 3/16 bottom no extreme. I had a few people you and get more out of it but it wouldn't do it. Was told there extreme wasn't as fast as there flat bottom. Did bump a little over 30 shallow a few times.

An 18x60 is a big ass boat for 1 engine.

And if it ran 27 mph with a stock motor it was doing great.

Only reason I ask you to clarify is because that 1 foot makes a world of difference. I have a 16x52 with a PD, but I have no problem stepping a 3 man load. It's no speed demon with 3 ppl, but I get a solid 23.5 which isn't all that bad considering the hull

Thanks craig! That's what I was getting at...it seemed not right!! The guy that I use his boat launch has an 18x60 all weld center console and his Carrie a load good.

My current boat ran 28.5 with 2 adults and a stock engine.

If its the the Cameron I mentioned above, I'll have his boat in the water tomorrow to try and figure out what's wrong with it.

I used to use a friends gdsd. And with that engine it did run better on a j-16 Carolina than it did on the lighter all weld! I figured the bottom was fucked r something...it was a 23hp

I just called a the young "Cameron" that I know and he said his boat is running good.

He has a 16x54 and said it runs 29.5 with a light load and gets on step with 5 of his little school friends.

Look,,,i just talked to a friend at work, his son has a 17x44 gator trax boat, and his boat runs stock with a gator tail gtr it runs 31mph....

oh, and kenny pellegrin runs 28-29mph with an alweld prodrive...

Well my GTR with the new marine engine is no speed demo, but with the reverse it makes running jugs a lot easier than before.
And Bubba this was yesterday AGAIN.

My new boat is an 18x46 GTB and with a stock engine ran 28.5-29 with two people. (Deep water)

Allweld boats normally run slower than a true mud hull due to having the longitudinal runners crimped into the bottom.

The biggest killer of speed though is incorrect transom height and incorrect transom angle.

On my GDSD hull that's currently for sale, I've seen a 3-4 mph difference by simply pinning the engine in a different hole.

As for speeds, 90% of people exaggerate their boat speeds. Why, I have no idea.

But many of us here have been going to mud runs for many years...BIG mud runs that involved anywhere from 60-90 boats and the folks that always claim the highest speeds...ALWAYS get smoked by boats running substantially slower.
