Hey folks. I'm new to the site but have been enjoying reading the posts over the past couple of weeks. I've got a 15 ft Landau Jon boat with a 20yr old 20hp Mercury outboard that has let me down one too many times. Looking to get a mud motor to replace it but just not sure how big I can go on that boat. I was about to pull the trigger on a 23hp Go Devil but was afraid it would be too heavy. Got any guidance? Whats the heaviest motor i could mount to that boat? guess that would determine which mud motor to gravitate to...Thanks! |

I just put a 23 on a 1536 it works but not well |

How wide is your baot. Big difference in load capacity with a 36" bottom vs a 60" bottom. Duckdon |

i had a 23hp sd on a 1542 landua worked fine. I now have it on a 1544 basically same thing and the 23 works well. |

Thanks DuckedUp. Thats good news! I haven't done much research on SDs. Just been looking at LTs. The Surface Drive might be a good alternative for me. Boat is riveted but I would guess as long as we don't get crazy with it, it should work ok. Anybody else got experience with a similar sized boat? |

Wonder if gt would build a 1546 model for the 25, I know it's small but a 15ft is the sweet spot for my holes. Don't carry a big load so thinking that boat would fly! |

I know you can get a 1554 Extreme, which right now is producing the best #s with the 25 GTR |
