Post subject:  Pro Drive Reverse Question

In the areas I run the mud is fairly thick and not soupy like most experience or get to play around in...

I am asking because I've never seen a Pro-Drive in action and am just curious of how it works (the reverse system that is) either manual or the hydraulic setup that I think is new...

Given this scenario:

Your stopped... You go forward 1-2 feet but can't go further how do you Pro Drive guys rotate the output shaft around without moving the front of your bow... (attempting to stay in the trench your making) Do you have to lift the motor out of the mud and rotate it to prevent your bow from going from side to side b/c of the thick mud...

When I turn my motor in the mud & I'm stopped my bow always moves thats why I'm asking...

I leave mine in gear and when I ratchet it into reverse it digs a hole as it spins 180.

Can't say anything about mud... But if I get out of my ditch while engaging... It's not hard to get back in it after I pull that little red button.

Like it was stated above, the prop will eat its way around if needed to. and I personally don't find that the bow moves enough to worry about. Now when rotating the L/U around your not at WOT either, normally its done at just above idle other wise your bow will spin.

You just trim up on the motor, turn the LU and adjust trim to where you want it and go. I will have my motor trimmed up pretty good when in reverse. Its almost vertical running and trimmed high when backing most of the time. Doesn't turn the bow, at least not on mine.

If you go to PD web site, http://www.prodriveoutboards.com/, they have a video of reverse in action, also he will demonstrate ratcheting L/U for reverse. My bow hardly moves.
