A dealer close to me just recently acquired prodrive motors so I'm getting rid of this MudBuddy and the boat its hooked to.

The motor I've decided on will be a 36PD manual reverse.

I will either order a Sea Ark mudrunner 170 or 180. Reason being the dealer is close and very reputable. IMO the hull puncture warranty cannot be beat. The boat has everything I want at a reasonable price.

My question is which boat will the PD run better on? (speed, load carrying, hunt 2-3 typically)

170 --- 17' x 48", 475lbs
180 --- 18' x 52", 700lbs

The 17 will be faster empty, the 18 will be better with a load. I would take the 18. You can make an engine more powerful if need be but you can't stretch a boat

Round numbers......what are you going to pay for the seaark?

If youre stuck with those two, id go 18'.

id also strongly recommend exploring all the other boat builders, you might be suprised.

I bought a PD 17x48 with 36hp for just a little more than that base price then I added extended deck, trolling motor package, spot light, and additional storage box in back, bilge etc that increased the price some... but the thing is PD boat is made for PD motor.
