Bang for buck will still mean motor mods for heavy loads.... Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk |

1860 is not too big. Those motors can push some weight. Just make sure the floatation is not soaked in that boat. |

Jlh, a friend I hunt with has the godevil 16x60 with a stock gd35. It will run 27mph with the two of us and light load, the 1860 should be close to that. |

Skinny....look, I'm really a nice guy. I hate to be the one to do this to you...because then you will think I'm not a nice guy. And, it looks like it's a majority vote. Everybody must think it's my turn to do this...so here it goes. You're lucky I'm doing this for you...if it would have been earlier in the night...no telling who would have done this and how it would have all turned out. Most of the time, it's never pretty. I know this is your first time here, you're a newbie, you didn't know, blah blah blah...It's okay. Lots of people have made the same mistakes you have made. I know you didn't do it on purpose. It was an accident, an oversite, a simple misunderstanding of how things work around here. What it boils down to is this. We are currently typing in a very hallowed and sacred section of MMT known as "Reviews - Boats & Motors." This is like a super-sacred area...more sacred to some mudmotor enthusiasts than that big loggerhead turtle was to that new guy on Swamp People. And I realize...just seeing the forum title "Reviews - Boats & Motors," one could easily say to themselves, "This is where I'm going to pose my questions about Lightweight & Simple boat/motor setup?" But, what you really missed out on was the fine print right beneath "Reviews - Boats & Motors" that reads, "Tell Us About What You Drive and How You Like It." I realize, that is much smaller print. I wear corrective lenses for my eyes because I'm old and going blind. Sometimes I come on here and try to read things without my glasses. It's even worse when I try to read this forum on my phone! So, I could understand where you may have missed that part about "Tell Us About What You Drive and How You Like It." Another clue as to just how hallowed this forum has become...there is a "sticky" that will elude further. This is not the kind of sticky that you leave somewhere after rubbing one out. This sticky is a forum topic that stays at the top of the forum in hopes that anybody visiting this forum may see it, click on it and read it. Especially when the topic title reads, "Review/Rules Template - Please Use For Your Reviews." Had you gotten that far in the forum, made it to the sticky topic, clicked on it and read it; you would have learned about the 6-10 rule. (Pronounced six ten rule). The 6-10 rule has nothing to do with the hours you work and being too tired to comprehend or grasp the concept of this forum. The 6-10 rule is not a shortcut around the rest of the website to just post whatever you want, where you want. The 6-10 rule is actually two rules. Rule #6 and Rule #10. They read as follows: 6. Please don't ask ?'s in your review, ask questions in the CMF Forum 10. Once again only post reviews of mud motors and boats here, all first post that ask for advice will be moved. There are eight other rules in this particular sticky if you would like to indulge yourself. Furthermore, to save you a lot of grief and heartache in the future, there is another really neat feature on MMT that not many people are aware of...especially newbies. You're gonna have to trust me on this. This place can get really brutal. I have only your welfare in mind as I type this out. This feature can make or break you. If you are looking at this website from a computer or the full blown version on your phone, this can be hard to find, too. But, right up there at the top of the screen....go ahead and look right now so you don't forget to do this....right below the "Talk" in the "MudmotorTalk.com" logo; strategically located between two round bullet marks, flanked on the left with "FAQ" (that usually stands for "Frequently Asked Questions"...get it? FAQ...Frequently Asked Questions...who comes up with that stuff?) On the right, side is the word "Members." Right between FAQ and Members is the word "Search." Try clicking it and see what happens. Now, the site has gone through extensive growing pains and has had to switch servers. So, sometimes, it's just easier and faster to do a google search for what you are trying to find. That may have been how you actually stumbled across this plethora of mudmotor and mudboat information in the first place. Just remember, if you do try to google something on MMT....you do know how to google, right?....start your search with the term "mudmotortalk." So, if you wanted to know something about a lightweight & simple boat/motor setup, go to google and in the search bar, type "mudmotortalk lightweight simple boat motor setup" and see what kind of results you get back. Chances are, you're not the first person to ask this question.....or to ask a question looking for an answer in the Reviews section. Just to show you how effective a google search can be, I googled "mudmotortalk lightweight simple boat motor setup." Can you believe it? I found this thread! (and 2,619 other results...granted not all of them on MMT) But, there is a handy little feature on google...a link that reads, "More results from http://www.mudmotortalk.com" A link...that's something in internet talk that means you can click on it and it takes you to another place. No...not like "Puff the Magic Dragon" kind of another place...just another place on the internet. Try clicking that "link" and seeing what kind of results you get back from that action. I got "about 1,200 results (0.16 seconds)" See Exhibit A, below: Attachment: Google.jpg Google.jpg [ 85.23 KiB | Viewed 173 times ] Now, I know, you're first reaction will be that you will be all butt hurt, want to get defensive, start calling people names, become an internet badass and want to meet me at Academy. But, you see, we already have somebody like that named "AKA Freshwaterkilla." He does this on a frequent basis...and believe it or not, he has over 3500 posts to this website. Most of it has been mindless jibberish about how he has the baddest mudmotor in the universe or something like that. But, since he does it on a frequent basis, he frequently finds himself in what we refer to as "Time Out." This is when he doesn't get to come on MMT and enjoy the pleasant camaraderie of working mudmotor ownership. Well, I can't say that he enjoys it when he's not in Time Out...well....it's kind of because I don't think he actually has a "working" mudmotor...you know what I'm saying? So, just nut up and take this bit of information as constructive criticism...positive reinforcement...a holding hands, kumbaya moment. Trust me....this was a lot gentler than what you would have gotten if you would have posted this earlier tonight during some of the peak MMT periods when there are a lot of angry people surfing the internet. Tonight, that would have been during Duck Dynasty commercials. I don't know what it is about that Willie Robertson that gets some of these guys on MMT so hostile? Oh well, Welcome to MMT! Make sure you don't wear your heart on your sleeve, you wear your big boy panties, and for Pete's sake...use the search feature and know which forum you're posting in!! _________________ 18' x 54" Uncle J Custom Center Console w/36 HP Prodrive - The FULL Story! Is there an echo in here?? ![]() ![]() I'm telling you...Tony B. needs to make this a must read for any new user...with a test at the end. The question should read something like: What's the moral of this story? A. AKA Freshwaterkilla is truly an internet badass B. BlueShamu can sure tell a good story C. Use the Search feature and make sure you are posting in the correct forum. D. None of the above. |
