I'm sitting on 500 hours. 400 of those with heads, carb, and muffler. 200 on the cam. 2010 motor. I'm pretty happy with my $8k investment based on what other options are out there today. I see people with $25,000 yamaha 250 4 strokes with less than 100 hours have more issues than I've had. |

#1 you're considered lucky for your briggs & the Yamaha owner was unlucky (not common). #2 And You're comparing apples to oranges talking about a 250hp. For example, a 40-50 hp Yamaha is about $7-8k. Motor & drive comes with 3 yr warranty & in some cases a longer warranty (when my dad bought a new boat they doubled his 90 hp warranty time frame). I can't wait til these "shallow water outboards" get some real motor options & engineering. |

It seems like to me the older motors (2010 and below) stay together better. Buddy of mine has an 08 model and had nearly 700 hours before any leaks or valve problems. |

Well there has been a mud motor boom in the last few years. If pressure is being put on the manufacturer to produce them quicker, they may not be turning out their best...aka Sport V. |
