You sure can... But if I were to choose I would go with copperhead. I have spoken with them several times while building a small rig a couple years ago. They will go above and beyond to make sure you are happy with the motor you have |

The copperhead is probably quicker , but the mini is a little bit stronger in frame. My opinion based on having the mud buddy and seeing the copperhead , but either one is a good choice. My 23 isn't that quick around 21 to 19 mph pushing a 1644 gatortrax , but has lots of push in the mud . Gets me through everything I need.... |

That would be the first I've heard about it. Why u would wanna keep that name in the first place is beyond me. Probably why mike was never able to get it off the ground. |

Copperhead. Great motors and simple. PM thirdtimesacharm he is a dealer and can tell you anything you want to know. And can get you set up with a motor. |

Copperheads seem to like the shorter boats.. Not sure if it's the angle of the dangle or if it's the power to weight distribution, but those little copperheads will run on shorter boats better than any mini I've seen.. And I've spent my entire life hunting 25 hp restricted areas and I've seen a BUNCH of mini's on14-16 ft boats and for whatever reason the copperheads will outrun em 10 times out of ten |

I believe you can get them with a centrifugal clutch like a snowmobile. Its easier to idle around with electric clutch when setting deeks. I almost got a mini but went with an HD the power trim and clutch is definitely worth it. I originally had it on a 1448 tall transom. Personally I wouldnt go with out power trim as I use it a lot. |

Bout 20 empty 12-13 full hunt load but I had lotta plywood decking. A long tail performed better because it was lighter. Flat front is ideal. I wouldnt recommend a SD on a boat less than 16'. Motor was too heavy for boat so I upgraded to a 17' and gained speed. I longer boat runs flatter. Honestly if your running a small boat now go with a long tail and save your money to get a 17-18 boat and a surface drive. I wish I would have done it right the first time that way I could have gone with a 35 hp setup. I already had the motor so I was limited with the size of boat I could get to match the 23 and still perform well. I can put my 1744 anywhere I put my 1448. If your going to spend the money do it right the first time and you will be happy |
