 Dixie Mud Motors
Anybody got one or know how they run? Aside from price, exactly how do they differ from, say, Copperhead? I don't know enough about short tails to know what to look for and how to compare. They've got a pretty impressive video and an impressive price menu.
I talked to a dealer for them (Backwoods Landing) and they didn't know too much, yet. Apparently they're very new in the market. That, in itself, doesn't make them inferior, just unknown. Shure would like input from someone with first hand knowledge of their product. thanx

WOW Over 100 views and only one reply. Thanx, diceman. I will give your guy a call, Monday. These guys must be brand new and, from what little I can gather, not off to a very good start. I'll also call them, Monday and see what's goin' on.

 Re: Dixie Mud Motors
Just to clear the air since Dixie Mud Motors is being attacked on this forum. Travis sold only one mud motor for Dixie Mud Motors and became a Copper Head Dealer soon after that. Travis's one customer that purchased a Dixie Mud Motor liked the motor so much that we formed a working relationship and that customer is now a Dixie Mud Motor Dealer. So if you have any real questions or concerns about our motor, Please call our Utah Dealer.

 Re: Dixie Mud Motors
^^^ X2
This guy has 4 posts & all 4 are seem like he's either the owner or has a major stake in the company. He's not giving us any details or info about them, their website didn't work when I tried to check em out, & now he's saying that WE are attacking HIM???!!! Give me a break, dude. Everyone here is receptive to new innovations & changes, but we'll straight up tell you if you're trying to push a piece of shit on us too. Personally, I have no interest in the "miniature" motors, but there's definitely a market for them. If Dixie proves to be as reliable as Copperhead has, then there's not a doubt in my mind they will succeed. I wouldn't start out by getting all defensive from the beginning though.

 Re: Dixie Mud Motors
Hey all as you can see im brand new to this site.I own a 18 hp dixie mud motor and its a running some bitch i have it on a 14-36 so not a hell of a lot of boat but it does run good.Im the one that bought it from Mayham in hooper UT and yes i did like it enough to be come a dealer in UT when Mayham backed out.I have around 20 hrs on it i run around 20-21mph with two guys in the boat. Its been great so far.Ran it at mud fest (a Ut event) and i held my own with motors that cost 2 or 3 times as much.So far all my dealing with Dixie have been good.I hope this helps.Kinda hate to start out on this site like this but thought the info could be useful.

 Re: Dixie Mud Motors
This is the 2nd forum I've seen him do this. In both instances he joins, portrays himself as someone in the market for a small HP surface drive, and then proceeds to pitch his product.

 Re: Dixie Mud Motors
OK, we get it! Nobody likes to be played. Now, since no one else here has ever made a mistake or exercised poor judgement, I say we not only ban him, but maybe we should burn down his business? (for the litigious minded, this is known as sarcasm and is not actionable)
After all, his product can't be good, can it? Oh, that's right. We've only heard from one guy who bought one and he loves his. But wait, he's a dealer, too (read: "liar") Maybe we should burn down his business, too? (see "sarcasm" above)
I have a serious quack addiction that far exceeds my budget and a desire to get a reliable, small horsepower short tail motor at the best possible price. It won't be the best, most expensive short tail with all the bells and whistles. It just has to be affordable and reliable. I don't have to be in love with the guy who sells it to me.
The question remains: does this guy make a good one, or not?

 Re: Dixie Mud Motors
Hebegb. I have to disagree with you on not liking someone. Gil at copperhead is actually fixing my seals in the shaft earlier today. Talked with him 5 times on the phone about how to take it apart to ship back to him And was nice as could be! Quiet frankly, I think it might be the opposite for me. Could have bought a motor in tallahassee that sells them, but disrespect him so much that not only me, but two other friends drove 7 hours to buy from someone else! Just my 2 cents though! And yes I LOVE my copperhead!

 Re: Dixie Mud Motors
mud slinger you stated like mine, if you are talking about my copperhead it's aluminum not steel , plus have a Q's ,i went to backwoodslanding site ,they have the weights posted there ,stating that the Dixie 12 only weigh's 93lbs ,is that frame and engine or just frame? my 12hp copper head being aluminum weighs 120 lbs , that includes frame and engine so yours is made from steel and it weighs 27 pounds lighter let me know, and like to see some video
