93 evinrude 60 losing spark
Hey u all I'm in the process of trying to get my mud boat on my lift which means getting my bass boat off the dock and on to its trailer. Went to start it and it had no spark except for the middle cylinder, so I replaced the coils with no change. The only thing that will cause it get spark to the cylinders is advancing the timing by giving it a little throttle. Anybody got some ideas what is causing this?

That does seem pretty odd. The timing plate is supposed to twist on a perfect circle. I think your might have some side to side play and has to be moved a bit for the "pickup" to read the signal and tell the powerpack to fire the coils. Eyeball your plate very good. Mud dobbers can also cause this kind of weirdness.
