Why are the steering arms on SD motors shaped the way they are?

The motor im looking at the most is the copperheads and was wondering why the steering arm is shaped like it is.

Yall done gone and hurt the new guy's feelings. Shame on you.

New guy: your thirst for information is commendable, and that question has very likely never been answered on this site so a search would likely be fruitless. I wish you luck in your quest. I will say this in hopes it finds a receptive ear: if this bit of information is truly what you seek, don't buy a mudmotor. The steering arm is not a complicated feature. You'll spend a lot of money having things fixed on the rest of it if you can't figure out why that is shaped as it is.

Lastchance, Thank you for answering my question without being a total ass like the rest of the members who have answered.

The reson I was asking is becuase I was thinking it had to do with helping control the tourqe of the motor and are making it easyer to drive while seated, so thank you for the striaght forward and simple answer to my question.

So many internet heros on here with so much info and experence that they cant find the time or intellegence to be able to answer a simple question like a grown man.

The anchor point and length dictate the leverage you have over tiller torque. Shape of a damn piece of pipe doesn't. You're over thinking something basic physics and geometry explain quite easily, and you should've been able to figure out just by staring at one for a few minutes. You didnt, so we were entertaining ourselves at your expense. Being called a total ass is just icing on the cake and our ultimate goal. That's not, however, as bad as it can get.

Assblaster, the shorter the handle and the less bend that is in the handle the better the motor will operate.
