As the sun starts to show itself and the rains and floodwaters subside, the true picture of what has happened over the past few days becomes clear to many. South Louisiana has been through a hell of a time with some biting the bullet, and some losing it all. Out of all the devastation there were the ones who stepped up to the plate. The common man, the hunters, the fishermen, the everyday joes, the heros.

One thing that shined through was the mudmotor community. Hundreds took to the water in their mudboats to do what they could to help. Mudboats are commonly used for hunting and built for shallow water areas and they are perfectly suited for floodwater rescue. The mudmotor community helped countless people escape the floodwaters as well as some saving the lives of people who would have surely drowned.

Though we are not out of the woods, I felt it needed to be said how proud I, as well as many others are of all of you. You truly showed everyone our spirit here in Louisiana, a spirit of taking care of our own when things get bad.

That's what we are about in Louisiana we may fight over the lil things but we come together in the time we need each other

X2 very well said. Wish I could have been one of the ones helping but was dealing with my own flooding. Makes me happy to say I'm from La where neighbors help neighbors like it should be.

I've seen several articles today highlighting the mud boat army that showed up to help folks, rescue folks, rescue pets, and deliver emergency provisions. seriously I couldn't be more proud to be apart of a community like this as hunters and fishermen we have allways helped others in need in the few news feeds I seen and facebook post from news all them show regular boats with regular people helping eachother
