Mud Motor Build Driveshaft Height Question
Hi all. I am relatively new to mud motors and am building a 16hp surface drive. My question is, what should the distance be between the top of the transom and the center of driveshaft. It is a short transom.

What are you calling the driveshaft? The shaft coming out of the engine that drives the belt, or the shaft the prop is attached to that's driving the boat?

Re: Mud Motor Build Driveshaft Height Question
I'm all for a good project, but I'll offer this as a thought: if you're relatively new to mudmotors, you're missing a LOT of experience necessary to do things right the first time on your build. I wish you luck.
Do tons of searching on this site. There have been a few one off builds over the years, and a lot of discussion about transom height and where the bottom of the lower unit needs to be to not drag the water but still be as close to horizontal as possible for more forward thrust. I bet you'll find all you need.
