Does anyone know what brand of paint go-devil uses to paint their surface drive boats? Thinkin bout' repainting mine to make it look new again but don't know what kind of paint they use.

Craig I'm unsure of the brand but if you call GD they have their paint in stock. Like you I need to repaint mine also. You can buy the paint in spray cans or quarts. Do a before and after pics if you can. There is a guy I met at the past couple Muddi Gras that had worked for GD and left for another job. He had bought four or five GD spray cans and sprayed it after cleaning and it looked like brand new.
I like the color too.

Not sure what "brand" they use at GD but I painted my GD hull with Parker in Hunter Green. Used my Wagner power painter and it turned out nice. This is an oil base paint so I think it will hold up better in the long run.

The GD paint in a spray can is made at Sherwin Williams.

Just talkked to go-devil and they said they have it in stock for 42.00 per gallon. They also gave me the paint code so i called sherwin williams (where they get it) and they charge 38.00 a gallon, so i have a gallon on the way. Will try to paint it up in a couple weeks.

Randy,

That was me at the muddi gras. My paint was pretty banged up before, but like you said, 5 or 6 cans and it looked like it did the day I bought it. A little paint goes a long way!!

cer, good to hear from you. In your opinion how much paint would it take to re do my boat? I have been thinking of some type of super camo job but the GD green blends in well and odds are I will just repaint it with GD paint. Hope all is well with you.

Randy,

I think I used 5 or 6 spray cans on mine. It was missing paint in most of the high traffic areas, floors, gunnels, etc. It wasn't too bad. Just wash it good and let it dry good.

Put up some pictures when you do it!

When are you coming back down this way?

I hope all is well with you.

Kem 400 i believe is the name of the paint. DFOU did his boat not to long ago with it

If you use Sherwin KEM400 (I use it) make sure they flat out the sheen to 3-5%. As it normally comes out of the can it is too glossy for this application. Easy to fix...the store adds a flatting agent to the paint when they tint it. Just be sure you tell them you need as close to dead flat sheen as you can get.

I'm almost positive it's called Go-Devil green @ Sherwin Williams. Surely they can look it up and get you the right paint.

Dusting off an old thread to supply the paint code...

I called GD today to order some paint and they would not ship quarts and gallons, only rattle cans. They did offer the paint code so that I could go direct to one of Sherwin Williams' Chemical Coatings stores. The code GD provided is F75G-2211-4367 "Go Devil Green".

I called the New Orleans store (504-733-9051) and placed an order. The guy I spoke with said the number was old and he had a newer one - F75KXG-2211-4367.

If I followed him correctly:
F75 indicates that it's KEM 400
G is Green
2211 is the custom formula for GD Green, and
4367 is the store number that created the mix (New Orleans).

A gallon of KEM 400 is around $50 +/- depending on pigments and shipping was around $15.
