The gdsd is a balanced frame and does not need power trim. It is supposed to find the "sweet spot" on its own...

i think yall are missin what CB is saying. Go-Devil does not offer power tilt and trim on their motors. so its not even a feature you can get. if you want that you will either have to go with a Gator-Tail, Pro-Drive, or MudBuddy.

make you some sort of winch trim since its balanced, if you hit somethin it could come up but could only go back down as far as the slack in the line.

You could mount the motor on one of those CMC prower trim jack plates.

I don't understand why u would need trim. If you have the tabs bent right it rides where it needs to be. No need to trim it.

This is my first sd have run Lts before but new to these I know it has a manual trim but what I am reading is that all I need to do is hope in and go and the motor will find the right spot

You will have to bend the two "ears" down by the prop most likely. Just bring a good size crescent wrench. And run it for a while. You want the tabs to provide downward force if the motor pops out of the water it will pull itself back in. And set the manual trim so the motor rest in the sweet spot rpm's wise and u should be good to go.

I wasn't just talking about a gd, but even a pd or a gt or mb. Plus could help with set back it gives. If the transom on your boat doesn't match the motor ,why would'nt this help cure that problem? You would be able to set your motor at any degree you needed.

Well the other 3 major brands do have power trim. But the other 3 aren't a balanced design so it works well. My buddy has been trying to figure out away to make his gdsd a center console for a couple years now and I just don't think it's feasible seeing how there is no way of trimming the motor remotely and the need for upward pressure on the handle occasionally.

I know of a few boats that had tilt and trim put on a GD longtail, so I know it can be done.

One boat was driven from the front with stick steering and another was a console and steering wheel.

A longtail and a sd are two totally different animals. A longtail holds itself in the water much better than a gdsd. And there's a ton of room on a longtail to come up with something. I'm not saying it can't be done but if someone came up with something I would have to question it's functionality. A jackplate does something totally different. It would work but I don't think u would get much use out of it unless your motor didn't match your transom height.

Post Re: 35 GDSD Power trim?
This question is more or less related to this topic. My 23 hp gdsd doesn't really ride on the surface, when on plane the prop is fully in the water, if I adjust the the large trim screw to where the prop is about half out of the water i lose a noticeable amount of speed and power. The prop riding so deep in the water is hell when going full speed through the stumps. The motor is on a 15x48 legend craft. The boat is ribbed on the bottom which is not ideal. My prop is worn about 1/2 inch on both sides. I have a new prop ordered but i am wondering if that amount of wear should cause me these problems?

i am no expert but in my experiances, but i would run faster trimmed down like you run but it wasn't comfortable because the motor wants to push againts you. you should be trimmed to where the water line is just a hair under the shaft where it meets the prop, if your running with it all the way in your defeating the purpose of the SD. and also you shouldn't have to mess with the cavatation plate at all because that should be out of the water when your on plane, all thats for is to keep water and mud to the prop when start out so you dont oscilate the prop. one other tip is to set your manual trim to where you need it on plane and then you shouldn't have to mess with it at all unless the load in your boat changes weight or positioning.

I could make a power trim for the GDSD that would work as good if not better than the manual one in just a few hours! Why make one you ask? For same reason PD went to power trim because its the shit! Coco doesn't put anything on his motors that might be a problem later down the road, clutches, reverse, power trim, etc....

But for those of us that don't mind giving up a little to get a little than fuk it, meaning if Duff would rather push a button than twist a knob than more power to him.
