I had a 4400 I ran for an evening. Didn't run as fast as a stock 35 gdsd and the neutral safety switch was giving me fits.

I may have had a dud, so don't base anything off of me!

The reverse is stronger than any other motor, other than a pd!

That's been about 2 years ago though!

Post Re: Looking for reviews on boss drives ??
I got one in the spring of 2015, one of the early ones after Boss took it over from Mud Buddy. I went from a Mud Buddy (non CDI with carb, heads, and crossover exhaust) to the 37 Boss. I then upgraded the 37 with a tuner, cam, heads (all BPS) and Voodoo exhaust. It took all of that to get the same performance as the Mud Buddy.

Had issues at first with a weld on the cav plate breaking. It happened at least twice. Boss was good about getting me new ones right away. It was a known issue and they didn't ask any questions. A friend of mine has a newer Boss, and I see they re-designed it to fix that problem.

They also had paint issues at first. I also did not have any problems getting that taken care. They sent new parts and paid for labor to have it fixed. I believe they have that fixed on the new models also.

That's the only issues I have had in 2 years. I don't run in a lot of mud, so I can't comment on that. It works like it should in heavy vegetation. I have also hit many logs at speed with no issues. I have read on some forums how people don't like the gear noise, but my guess is that none of them own one. I can only hear it at idle.

Excel 1854 F86-30mph with just me, a few batteries, 12 gals of fuel. The important thing is that it can get me @ 220lbs, a couple of my 250lbs friends, a lab, and a boat full of decoys up on plane

Like banded-mallard mentioned I'll probly just end up swapping my power head be cheap and I have basically new gen four lower unit so I could even buy a built big block motor and not spend near the money as and while new unit just don't think I can leave to Prodrives reverse it's got me outa some bad spots

I don't know about them Boss drives. I was talking to them guys on FB and told them to bring one or two to some mud filled vegitation flats and show me how great it is (all they were doing is singing how great it was) and make some videos!!!! All their videos are in timber or sandy creeks. I run a mud motor for mud

I spent the day at Boss Drives last week. We took a ride in the Hoss and Prodigy rig with two different props. I can tell you this, they have come a long way since day one. If there is an issue with a lower unit. They do everything they can to recreate the problem so they can learn how to fix it. They don't have many problems anymore. I'm happy to do business with Boss Drives. That Anti-Tiller Torque handle will be outstanding once it is released. The hydraulic assist Tiller on the Hoss is amazing. I enjoyed riding with it
