Re: How much power do I need?
I'd plan for one outboard or two mudmotors.
And I'd make it an even 20' in either case.

Re: How much power do I need?
You be aight just scratch the pods idea...
I run an 1860 with a unmodded 37 and hunt 3-4 people all the time out of it, occasionally 5. I definitely dont have any speed or plaining out problems out of it either. I dont think a foot longer will make all that much of a difference, I don't imagine it would add anymore that 50-75 pounds.
I have no idea why some people think a boat that size wont work with a singe mud motor...i guess if it wont run 30+ they dont want it. Hell I even think i want a 20x54 when this one kicks the bucket

Re: How much power do I need?
Is the 1300# the hull weight or a combined weight your wanting to move (hull, motor, people) ?

Re: How much power do I need?
The other day with 4 people and fishing poles in my 1848 I run 18 in good water conditions (stock PD 37efi). With a significantly heavier boat and the load you described and stock motor I'd expect you to run 12-15mph max hoping you can get on a plane. If that isn't fast enough for you then you're going to need a different setup.
Pods sometimes work ok with mud motors. But I'd hate for you to spend the money and it screw up the prop from properly making contact with the water and have to chop them off. Why are you wanting pods on that bid of a boat anyways?
