Well everything is set. My new rig will be picked up on the way home from Canada next month, specifically the 17th. As usual the guys at Backwater have been awesome to deal with and have answered a ton of questions along the way. I'm going with the 1752 Alweld mud hull constructed with the longitudinal bracing and, pointed bow, wide open floor plan. It'll be pushed by the new 37 SWOMP Lite. Everything will sit on one of their custom built torsion axle trailers. Once the new rig is home I'll have the bilge, lights, etc. wired up and she'll be ready for duck season. I'm excited to say the least and I can't recommend Backwater enough. I'll be sure to give a review as soon as I can. |

Why do you see wider boats being sold by them as opposed to longer narrower hills recommended by other mfgs for their long tails? Congrats on the new rig. How thick is that hull? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

They are just a dealer for Alweld so you can get whatever size hull that Alweld offers. I was originally set on a 1748 but after lots of discussion, and the realization that a 1752 would haul a hunting load better, I opted for the wider bottom. The hull is .100 thick. I had no issues with dents or hooks in my War Eagle that was the same thickness. And if I were to get a dent in the new hull, the longitudinal bracing would at least prevent hooks. |

That was probably one of the Marsh series boats. This is the Mud series. It's a smooth bottom with longitudinal bracing. |
