Anyone have an opinion on this surface drive? I’m looking to buy a 13-15 hp surface drive (new or used) for next season.
Thanks in advance.

I guess I should rephrase my question. Does anyone have any experience with a drake surface drive?

Aren't they here in Fort Worth? I see one particular person recommending them, but I have not seen one on the water or know anyone actually using one.

I can tell you that I would have no issues recommending a Copperhead, the quality and customer support is phenomenal.

I had the 12 lct copperhead before with no issues. Great customer service for sure. That engine seemed to vibrate a lot tho. Just looking at all options.

If it's named Drake, you'll shoot ducks in the pecker every time you go out.

That shaft housing is a little on the small side.

The 12hp Copperhead LTC is a vibrating sob for sure, but it is solid unit

I was Tom’s first customer and I will stand behind his product and customer service 110%. I have had 3 of his Drives and they are awesome. They are not meant for every Boat, but they are sweet for smaller vessels.

I’m not saying they are the best thing since sliced bread, however after running a go devil long tail for quite a while, going to the Drake was an excellent decision.

They drive smoother and handle better than most SD on the market in my opinion, that being said, they are NOT a 35/37 hp SD.... they don’t push your 18’ Boat 30mph... BUT they do push a 14’ Boat 23mph and 20 with a hunt load. For the price, warranty, and customer service you CANT beat em! I love my Drake Surface Drive.... however i also love my GDSD.... but they are two different worlds. I’ll take one over a long tail any day of the week.
