I'm curious if anyone has or had personal use of an 09 36pd and if you have ran it on a bigger mudhull. There is one for sale around me with a 20x60 pd x series for what I think is a good price.
Motor has 100 hours on it. My biggest concern is if the motor will be fine pushing that size of boat. This purchase will be my first true mud boat so I don't want to spend too much if I don't like it but I also don't want to start off underpowered and force myself to hate it. I'm interested in a boat me and a buddy or two can hop in and go fish and/or set lines but also something I can run out in shallow flood/marsh land.

Any advice related to this will be much appreciated.

That's a lot of boat for a stock motor, but it will run decent, and 4 people in it will still plane and get you there. With your outlook going into this, it likely won't be enough motor for you. If you want a boat that big, I recommend planning for a modded engine, duals, or be happy with what it'll do. If you aren't hung up on that big of a boat, a 1754-1854 would be a better setup with a stock motor.

Thanks for the insight Russ.

I've never been much of a speed guy but I would like to get on plane and do 20+ with a load. Besides a couple trips a year to Cheyenne Bottoms and NEMO I should never see anything that I don't think this boat could get me through. I hunt and fish a lot of backwater in local rivers and lakes and I like the idea of a bigger more stable boat. This will be a major upgrade from my 1982 16' sears riveted flatbottom and kit longtail. If I would happen to like whichever used setup I purchase I do plan on going custom later down the road.

The guy is asking 8k and everything seems to be in good shape. Is that a good starting price?

Of course I want to go new and custom but first I want to see if I enjoy the kind of setup.

Big boat for that stock motor, those boats are rather heavy also. For that price I would buy it and put 2 grand in that motor then you will have a damn good rig.

For 8K you should just send me the sellers contact info instead...

But seriously agree with the previously comment. For that price I'd get it and get heads, cam, exhaust put on and you'll be happy

Search the threads on boat speeds. I had a 07 PD with the briggs that I modded in stages and recorded all the data. It was originally on a 19'+ hull and ran well. Then I built a smaller hull and then of course did the kawi swap. It pushed it very well stock, then at the different stages also.

Here ya go. 2009 if I remember was like my 07', NO REV LIMITER!! You do however have the internal mechanical gov that will be limited by the tension on the spring, but can easily be fixed by a tyrap to stiffen it.
