Gator Trax motor question
I recently bought a 16x36 Gator trax rouge with a huntdeck and i'm running a 27 prodrive on the back of it. I had a buddy tell me that the 23 mud buddy would run faster on that boat than the weight back prodrive I have on it now. What are yalls thoughts?

Re: Gator Trax motor question
I wouldn’t think it would be enough difference to be worth switching.

Re: Gator Trax motor question
what is the weight of each? 100lbs can make a difference in a boat that small if you aren't on plane. the back end will sag and bring the gunnels a lot closer to the water line. any chop can get you wet or swamped. On plane, I think the extra hp will negate the weight difference.

Yeah the prodrive is for sure heavier but topped out with 2 guys and a cooler I’m only getting around 19mph. I guess that is about right for that motor with the boat it’s pushing

Re: Gator Trax motor question
From some digging it sounds like the 27 is around 260ish pounds. So if speed was the main issue, throw a 37 or 40. You would add 40ish pounds but gain allot of hp. That boat would get it. If weight don't think the 23 is worth it unless, you can find the right deal

Re: Gator Trax motor question
Thats a solid point. With all of that being said do you think it would be better to mod the ole prodrive up or trade up to a bigger motor of another brand to run better on the gator trax?
