I'm currently running a 1648 GDSD Hull and a 35hp GDLT. I'm thinking about downsizing to a lighter weight setup. Is there much difference in performance for a 23hp copperhead on riveted hulls from 1542-1748? I typically hunt with a 2nd but would like something I can hunt alone with. We have a portage/pullover so weight is a bit of an issue. Also, any recommendations on some lightweight open layout riveted or mud hulls I should check into would be greatly appreciated. Honestly all depends on what kinda conditions you run. If you run stumps, the tin can will not hold up for a long time. If you run mud and open shallow water, tin can will be fine |

Not much for stumps where I am. Mostly just some bullrush and shalows. Would the copperhead run better with a 1744 compared to a 1544? |

The copperhead is great if you keep it light. Great for rivet boats. 1544 would be good. 1744 maybe if it's very light. We have a 1448 rivet 23 copperhead. Love it. |

My 9 yr. old 1648 riveted Alumacraft weighed 290 lbs. Empty. I would think a 1448 would weigh less than that. I use mine to ferry upto 5 hunters back and forth to our pontoon blind. Motor is a MB 45. A 18-23 HP Mud motor would push a 1448 really well. With two people and gear. |

Just sold the Go-Devil to a friend and picked up a 1542 Grumman Scrambler (210 lbs) and found a used 2016 23hp Copperhead to put on it. That sucker flies with the copperhead. I was getting about 27-28 mph with an empty boat. Will C, when I get above half throttle I start getting some pretty bad vibration. Do you experience that at all? When I go full throttle out of the water, no real vibration. Is caused by an unbalanced prop? |

Thanks Wchauvin. I talked to Josh at Copperhead and he said to check the belt tension, which was a bit loose so I shimmed it 1/32 which improved the vibration some. I might try find a more local place to balance the prop. |
