Average speed to get on step
Anybody have a good idea just what the average speed for a heavy mud boat to get on plane would be?
Just guessing maybe 15mph?

Depends on width, length of boat, and water depth. I'd say closer to 12-13 for an 1854.

Depends on boat and load. I will definetly run the shallow banks and flats to get up when loaded.

Re: Average speed to get on step
I feel like I could cruise around on step in my 1854 at 12-14 mph with two people and a fishing load.

Re: Average speed to get on step
Good info to know , I may upgrade to a bigger more traditional mud hull in the future. Around 12 mph for me as well without a heavy mud hull . ( 16/48 War Eagle)
