Post Gatortail 40 vs Boss Drives 40
Ordering a new Havoc 1753 mstc and Im torn between these two motors. Where I hunt is mostly open rivers and will rarely be in mud , just want a mud motor because I hate outboards and how offen they dont run . Anyway any input on these two motor would be greatly appriciated !

I'm kinda with Russ. What he's trying to say is, get a better outboard. You will thank us later. I have a 2008 Yamaha 70 2 stroke and that sucker fires up all day everyday every time I need it. If you have no intention of mud, vegetation, very shallow water......then there is no reason to get a surface drive IMO. Oh and they break also, alot. its the stories that you don't read on the site where folks fix shit themselves.

Thanks !! Yea im starting to lean towards the outboard way the more I see they have come along way with them. I was basing my opinion off of my 97 2 stroke so I was stupid for that . Thanks a ton man and you probably saved me some money lol

I sold my mudmotor and just bought an outboard. If you don’t need the mudmotor, you’ll grow to hate the noise and maintenance.

I put a jack plate on and can still run pretty shallow.

Sorry, was getting in the truck. Yeah, if an outboard's reliability bothers you, then a mudmotor is not the route to take. You'll never come close to the reliability of an outboard with a surface drive. It's more maintenance intensive, and you'll have to fix things far more often.

Wayyyyyy more. Get the outboard of you don't have a need for the surface drive
