Post 1854 or 1954
I am leaning towards the 1854 on a new build, but I am considering going to a 1954. I run a CC rig and to make up for the lost space of the console, I am thinking about stepping up a foot. But, you never see 1954’s- curious why? Too slow, bad design, no reason, what’s the deal? I know all Gator Trax 18 footers with a hunt d deck are around 19 1/2 ft...insights or opinions would be awesome.

Because the aluminum comes in 20ft lengths. Why not go 20 if 18 isn't enough is usually the answer you'll see.

If the 19 is a dog, the 20 won't help. I think any of the listed sizes will be fine.

I'd say depending on power a 20 could be a good boat. I prefer to stay smaller, as it is easier to hide etc. It comes down to what you want, as said I think 18 or 19 you will be happy.
Now duals I see 20 ft being tits.

I prefer to err on the side of bigger. You can always get will or Marcus to hop your motor up to get the speeds you desire, but it’s nice having the extra room. I have an 18x48
And wish I had a 19 or 20 foot boat. To each his own, but I prefer the room and comfort. I don’t use my rig commercially, so the more comfortable, the better

That's a fine line between a single or dual motors depending on load and accessories.

I've been hunting a CC rig for 20 plus years- I'm too old to go back to a tiller!

I decided to go with an 1854. This is probably all I need, easier to hunt and it should perform great. Thx for the input! I'll be putting in the order tomorrow.

Good choice. Who’s building it?

I’m going with a PD this time around. Their hullls just seem to perform the best with their motors and I like their triple taper chines. Plus KP and the group are good people-
