New to the surface drive game. So I need some help setting everything up! I have a 1448 mod v alumacraft yes I know it’s not an ideal boat but it’s all I got for now. Last year I bought a 26.5 hp longtail and was less than impressed with the speeds so yesterday I went and picked up a mud buddy hdr 23hp surface drive. I did a quick test run and was getting 14mph and a lot of water was coming into the boat coming from the side spray of the motor. My boat has a 14” transom. Do I need to make it taller for the new SD. Motor? Any tips/tricks advice would be extremely appreciated! |

Sure sounds like you like to spend money before doing any thinking.... I don’t know if that specific mud buddy comes in two variations, but if it does, is it in a short or tall transform configuration? That’s where I’d bet your first major issue is. Short or tall, 14" isn't a tall enough transom. 16 for the short model, 20-21 for the tall. #CFFITR #GhostBoat #Whoneedsphysicsihaveamudmotor |

I have no problem with a welder. Don’t need to spend 20+k on a whole new set up.. Thanks |
