Post Best way to drive remote steer prodrive in mud
My first surface drive is a prodrive with remote steer. 1st Gen. 2048 mud hull. Trim is the old winch system.

I’ll have always driven longtails and its a different world to me.

Past few days where I have scouted for teal (and hunted this morning) I have run in water depths of 1 foot to 3 or so inches of water. Bottom is a mixture of silt and sand. It does ok when up on plane coming from deeper water; but when moving from a stopped position it will bite, move, and then no bite. I drop the trim all the way down and I turn the wheel back and forth and it will move it a little more.

Sometimes it will bite, move, and then pop out (because of debris I’m sure).

My thoughts are that if I had hydraulic trim, it would keep the prop grabbing mud/sand/clay/silt instead of popping out of the water.

Everything is vastly different from the grab and go world of longtails. So any advice will be appreciated.

Almost sounds like your cup is worn on your prop and not allowing it to bite when in step bro

Pm me a pic of your prop if you can and I can tell you if that’s one of your issues

Thanks for the advice. After some research, That’s what the problem is. However, I’m worried about my top end.

My GPS speed with 2 guys, dog, 2 batteries, and no gear is around 18-19 in deep water with minimal chop. I’m usually running open water on lakes until I get to veggies or mud/clay/sand/goop.

sounds like your prop is worn out.
I have winch trim. switching to hyd trim will not make the motor stay down. it is coming up because the bottom is hard/debris. once you go through a few props you will discover what u can/can't do. sand is the devil. lol

and... if you haven't switched your winch cable to synthetic rope yet, do it when that wire cable breaks. the synthetic rope last a lot longer.

Thanks guys. Yeah sand is the devil, I went through a few props with my long tail.

I’ll probably send it off after teal season to have the prop re-cupped and shaved.
