Post Vibration in longtail
I have a Mudbuddy 13hp (Honda GX390 with reduction gearing). I bought it used nine years ago and it has been a great unit with one exception: it has a harmonic vibration at full throttle...had it from day one. It's a "thrum-thrum-thrum-thrum" vibration that reverberates throughout the hull.
I originally thought it was the result of having only one universal joint in the drivetrain, so i replaced the U-joint with a constant-velocity joint (CVJ). This was five years ago and the harmonic vibration remains.
Nothing seems to be coming apart. The prop looks new and the driveshaft shows no signs of being bent, but I have not removed it to put a dial indicator on it.
Any suggestions? I hate the thought of buying a new unit just to cure a vibration.

Remove the prop and rev it up. This could help isolate the issue. Also im not up to date on the 13hp. Is it a single or a twin?

Is it just shaft whip? Is it fully greased? The 13hp Honda is a single. I had a small MB longtail that did the same thing.
