I haven't been able to get an answer from anyone but I'm sure I'm not the only person this has happened to. So I bought a 2009Hd 35 HP from a friend. I ran the motor a couple months before and ran wide open no problems. It sat for a month before I bought it. Now won't get on plane. At first thought it was a prop issue so I put on a new prop and nothing. So then I was convinced the clutch was slipping and bought a brand new clutch and everything and still won't work. At idle or lower rpms it works and you can feel the motor pushing but when you're starting to speed up it feels like when you spin a prop on a regular outboard. And you can feel it grab on and then spin and grab on and spin again. Not sure the rpms. But I need to get this thing going. Changed spark plugs and fuel filter it's on the same boat I ran it on. Please help.

I guess the first most obvious question is did you just buy the motor and put it on a different hull or did you buy the whole rig from him?

wire from clutch to battery direct both power and ground if it still slips its probably something with lower gear and taper lock. From what you are describing that's my best guess.

sounds like you lost the taper lock on the lower unit gear

nothing beats the cam lobe of a pivot shaft... and the method of extraction. to the op I found key stock at my local o Reilly's. 3/16 or 1/4 the gtr takes the 1/4
